Bi Steel

This Tata Steel -patented construction material was developed specifically for applications where superior protection from explosive blast is required. A unique steel/concrete composite comprising of two steel plates that are connected together by an array of friction welded transverse bars which is then filled with concrete, Bi-Steel has been fully tested and meets the requirements of the UK and US Governments for protective buildings.

Bi-Steel excels in speed of construction and strength in operation. It is ideal for blast protection and homeland security related applications:-

• Blast protective structures
• Blast walls
• Blast containment chambers
• Traffic barrier systems for access control

It can also be used for diverse construction applications, often in place of reinforced concrete, such as:-

• Building core, elevator shafts and stairwells for high rise buildings
• Building envelopes
